Donate to Youth Herbal Project, 2023

Chavez Gallery-School of the Santero created a 30-week youth herbal project to provide at risk youth with a culturally centered health and wellness approach using traditional medicine.  Local herbalist and healers will teach youth about honoring and preparing medicinal plants and roots for tinctures, salves, cleansing sprays, herbal extracts, crafting herbal teas and herbal skin care products infused with essential oil products.  Youth will have the opportunity to start an herbal garden and learn traditional gardening methods using acequias, planting/harvesting, foraging and wild harvesting of traditional plants.  Youth will research, write, and document herbal content.  Your donations are greatly appreciated and will provide youth with opportunities for mentorship, supplies, leadership development training, service-learning projects and community events.

July 12, 2023, Youth attended the 2nd Annual northern New Mexico Public Safety Summit.

August 5, 2023, Pancake Pampering Breakfast-Grandparents raising grandchildren school supply drive and herbal lessons and information dissemination.

September 24, 2023, Los Luceros Historic Site Fall Harvest Festival 2023.

October 29, 2023, Youth Herbal Project presents "Remembering to Live" Dia de Los Muertos, 2023 community celebration.  The end of year celebration will allow youth participants to showcase their herbal plants and medicinal herbal products as well as have an educational booth with youth resources emphasizing on culturally centered health and wellness for youth by youth using traditional medicine.  The event will have a memorial cemetery to honor loved ones lost to substance use related causes.
